How to Enter the Contest: One wing eating competition will be held at The Norwalk Boat Show, on Saturday September 22nd, 2012. The “95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating” Competition will feature contestants selected prior to and possibly at the Norwalk Saturday September 22nd, 2012.
How to participate: Qualifying entries will be accepted for the “95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition” online at 959thefox.com prior to the boat show . Up to Ten (10) participants will be selected. By entering they are stating that they are willing to compete by eating wings at the Norwalk Boat Show on Saturday September 22nd, 2012 at 3pm. All decisions made by WFOX shall be final.
Eating competitions are inherently dangerous activities, and all participants expressly and voluntarily assume the risk of any and all injury or damage that may result from participation in the eating stunt or competition. Participants understand that such risks include, but are not limited to, possible bodily injury, partial or total disability, paralysis, death, and other injuries and damages. Selection of a particular eating stunt for the WFOX Wing Eating Competition shall in no way be deemed an approval or endorsement of the stunt by Cox Media Group, Inc, WFOX, The Norwalk Boat Show or any employee or agent thereof, and the risk of loss, damage or injury shall at all times remain with and be borne by each participant. Participants will be required to execute a Waiver of Liability, Release, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement in favor of Cox Media Group, Inc. before PARTICIPATING IN THE Wing Eating Competition. A member of the WFOX promotion staff will contact the prospective contestant by phone to inform them about whether their entry has been accepted.
To compete in the 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition , competitors must have been selected and notified as described above, meet all eligibility requirements, have executed documents required by WFOX, and be present at the Norwalk Boat Show at the time designated by WFOX to compete in the competition.
All contestants must present a valid state approved ID with their picture on it to participate.
Competitors may eat in heats. The number of contestants in each heat (if any) and the number of heats will depend on the number of contestants. If there are multiple heats, each contestant may be assigned a number. All numbers may be placed in a box and drawn randomly to determine heat placement. The 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition contestants will be given (depending upon the discretion of the officials) up to 5 minutes to eat as many wings as possible or Thirty wings. The first person to eat Twenty Five or Thirty wings (depending on the number provided will be declared the winner or the person who as eaten the most wings within the 5 minutes if no one eats all of the wings within the allotted time. A designated 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition official will determine the number of wings successfully consumed by each participant.
WFOX reserves the right to add or limit the total number of contestants selected to compete in THE 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition September 22nd , 2012 at the Norwalk Boat Show at 3pm.
Eligibility Restrictions: The contest is open to contestants 18 years of age or older. Employees of WFOX, its corporate parent Cox Media Group., affiliated entities, its affiliated advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other radio stations in New York, Mass. and Connecticut and the members of their immediate families are ineligible to participate or win. All contestants must be physically able to participate in the contest and must certify prior to participation that there is no physical, psychological, medical or other reason (i.e. heart condition, diabetes, food allergies, etc.) as to why the rapid consumption of a large quantity of food would adversely affect their health. All contestants must sign a participant release prior to participating in the contest. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.
WFOX reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify a contestant(s) if he or she tries to publicize another business or radio station through their clothing or through what they say into the microphone during the contest. In addition, WFOX reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify a contestant(s) for disruptive behavior. All contestants must be a legal US Citizen. Professional eaters, persons recognized by AICE , the IFOCE or members of any professional eating organization or participants in any professional eating competition are not eligible. The decision of professional eater status will be determined by a WFOX Wing Eating Official and is final.
Prizes The winner of the 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition will receive a Spirit E-210 Weber Grill from Keough’s Hardware of Stamford and Ridgefield valued at $400.00
The 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition first place prize will be awarded upon the determination that one of the competition contestants has successfully consumed the most chicken wings within the allotted time period.
All prizes or prize may be picked up at the office of 95.9 THE FOX, 440 Wheelers Farm Rd, Milford, Connecticut 06461 unless otherwise specified. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within forty-five days of winning will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior, written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its arrival. WFOX is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate. Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted.
Selection of Winners Selection of participants, decisions regarding the number of participants, determination of winners and all other decisions of station management with respect to the contest are final.
95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition Rules: During The 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition at The Norwalk Boat Show on Saturday September 22nd 2012. In the result of a tie, a winner may be chosen at random or “2-minute wing-offs” may be held to determine the winner. WFOX is not responsible for miscalculations or inaccurate counts of wings provided. Prior to the start of the competition, contestants will witness a demonstration of the minimum amount of meat that must be eaten on a wing in order for it to be counted in the final tally. Contestants who do not meet the minimum requirement will be given one warning, after which they will be penalized for each wing that is not properly and fully eaten.
Each contest will have one (1) up to no more that 15-minute period, with a short break after each, followed by a final 2-minute period and tie-breaking rounds as necessary. Contestants may not leave the immediate area during the break, however they may stand up, stretch, have a drink of water, wipe their hands and faces and confer with their managers. Upon completion of the contest periods, the competitor who has eaten the most wings in entire contest period will be declared the winner of the 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition. If there is a tie, then the tied competitors will all qualify for a two (2) minute tie breaking period. The amount of wings eaten during the 5 minute round will count towards the final total of wings eaten. Upon completion of the competition periods competitor who has eaten most wings in that time period will be declared the winner of the 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition. If there is a tie, then the tied contestants will all qualify for the Final 2-minute period or winner will be chosen at random. Chicken meat must be eaten directly from the bones. Stripping the bones of meat first and eating the meat at one time will not be allowed. Napkins in any form are not allowed If a contestant leaves the wing-eating area for any reason during the contest, or eats any wings between periods, he or she will be disqualified from further competition. Competitors may not make physical contact with other contestants at any time; any contestant who deliberately makes contact with another contestant will be disqualified at the sole discretion of WFOX. If a contestant purges or vomits at any point during the competition, he will immediately be disqualified. At the end of competition periods the competitor who has eaten the most chicken wings will be declared THE 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition Champion. In the event of a tie, a two-minute "wing-off" will be held between all tied Finalists or a winner will be chosen via a random drawing. "Wing-offs" will continue until a single winner is declared. All decisions and disputes will be decided on by the 95.9 THE FOX Wing Eating Competition officials. All decisions of the officials are final.
5. Conditions Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent. By participating in the contest, the winner or winners agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to the acceptance of the prize. Competition winner will be required to sign a liability release prior to acceptance of any prize valued at $600.00 or greater or which prize includes the provision of transportation whether or not such transportation is provided by WFOX. Pursuant to the liability release, the winners will agree to hold WFOX Radio, its corporate licensee, its parent corporation, Cox Media Group, Inc., affiliated companies and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the competition. WFOX reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the competition, which will become effective upon announcement. No purchase is necessary. The contest is void where prohibited. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification, at the sole discretion of WFOX. WFOX is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
